It’s this blend of heartfelt advocacy and seasoned experience that has made Tangi a trusted name in law for over a quarter of a century.

Lindsay S. Arevalo

ASSOCIATE ATTORNEY
Lindsay S. Arevalo received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with an emphasis on pre-law from Mississippi State University in 2011. She earned her Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 2014. Although Lindsay is originally from Vicksburg, Mississippi, she moved to Hattiesburg after becoming licensed to practice law in 2014, and she has thoroughly enjoyed her life and law practice in the Pine Belt ever since. Upon moving to Hattiesburg, Lindsay started her own law practice right next door to Shipley’s Do-Nuts on Hardy Street. Her first years of practice focused on family law and child advocacy. Two years into her legal career, Lindsay accepted a full-time position at the Forrest County Public Defenders Office, where she represented indigent clients accused of felony crimes. Throughout her years as a full-time public defender, Lindsay zealously represented her clients in bond hearings, preliminary hearings, motion hearings, and jury trials. She trained for three years with Gideon’s Promise, which is a national organization that educates public defenders across the country in client-centered representation both in and out of the courtroom.

Lindsay is still active in Gideon’s Promise today, mentoring new lawyers as they enter the training program and supporting the organization’s efforts in achieving meaningful criminal justice reform on a national level. In 2019, Lindsay became Forrest County’s first full-time youth court defender, representing parents in ongoing proceedings to regain custody of their children, as well as teenagers who have been accused of crimes. Lindsay also served as the Guardian ad Litem for many children in foster care, and served on the intervention team for the youth drug court program. Working with the children of Forrest County continues to be the most meaningful part of her legal career. Lindsay joined Tangi Carter & Associates, P.A. in January of 2023. She has enjoyed Tangi’s friendship and support within the legal community throughout her time in Hattiesburg, so associating with Tangi’s law firm has been a dream come true. Lindsay’s practice within the firm includes misdemeanors, felonies, both CPS and DYS matters in youth court, as well as some family law cases. She accepts cases within the Pine Belt regional area. She also still serves as the youth court defense attorney for teenagers accused of crimes in Forrest County. Lindsay is certified as a Guardian ad Litem and youth defender within the state of Mississippi. She is also certified in Mental Health First Aid through the Mississippi Department of Mental Health. In her free time, Lindsay enjoys boating and fishing with her husband, Gil. She is a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in downtown Hattiesburg. She served as the alumna adviser to the Phi Epsilon chapter of Tri Delta sorority at the University of Southern Mississippi for seven years. Community is of the utmost importance to Lindsay, and she feels blessed to serve her community through her work as well as through volunteering.
